The best AI tools for creative work
Creative professionals were among the first to feel both the threat and the leverage of AI. Two years in, the dust has settled enough to say which tools belong in a working creative stack — and which are still demos pretending to be products.
Why we organize by audience, not by tool category
Most AI tool directories group by category — "video tools," "image tools," "text tools." The grouping is convenient for the directory; it's useless to the creator. A YouTuber doesn't need to know about every video tool — they need to know the right tool for thumbnails, the different right tool for editing, and the unrelated right tool for shorts. Those tools live in different categories under the old organization. They live in one place under ours.
So we organize by audience: YouTubers, podcasters, photographers. Inside each audience, we map the actual workflow — every job a working creator does — and rank the best AI tool for each job. The result is that you don't have to translate "best AI tool for video editing" into "which one of these is right for the way I work." We've already done it.
The three audiences we cover
YouTube and YouTube-shaped video work is the densest AI ecosystem in 2026 — we cover ten use cases under YouTubers alone, from thumbnails to repurposing. Podcast production has a smaller but rapidly maturing tool stack; Podcasters covers the five workflows where AI has materially changed the production calculus. Photography lagged AI longer than the other two and is the most opinionated category we cover; Photographers covers the four workflows where 2026 tools are finally good enough for client work.
What we don't cover (yet)
Graphic designers, writers, and musicians sit adjacent to the audiences we cover today and will get dedicated hubs as the testing capacity allows. The reason for the focused launch — three audiences rather than ten — is that depth beats breadth in this category. A surface-level guide to fifteen audiences is less useful than a serious guide to three.
